A Storied Legacy of Golf, Community, and Distinction Since 1919

A Historic Beginning

Cold Spring Country Club’s rich heritage traces back to 1919, when financier Otto Kahn commissioned renowned golf course architect Seth Raynor to design a course set across more than 170 acres of rolling, wooded terrain. At the time, the estate featuring the golf course, castle, and surrounding grounds—was the second largest in the United States. Raynor’s distinguished portfolio also includes celebrated courses such as The Creek Club in Locust Valley, Mid Ocean Club in Bermuda, and The Old White at The Greenbrier in West Virginia.

The Formation of Cold Spring Country Club

In 1947, the property was acquired by members of Willowbrook Country Club, marking the founding of Cold Spring Country Club. The original stables were thoughtfully transformed into the clubhouse, with additional amenities including swimming pools and tennis courts, added over time to enhance the member experience.

A Club Defined by Community

Today, Cold Spring Country Club is defined not only by its storied golf course, but by its enduring sense of community. With a warm, family-oriented atmosphere, generations of members have come to regard the club as their home away from home.

Exceptional Amenities & Hospitality

The Club offers a full complement of premier amenities for members and their guests. The clubhouse provides exceptional dining, social events, and elegant spaces for private entertaining, including weddings, banquets, and outings. The championship golf course is meticulously maintained and renowned for having some of the finest and fastest greens on Long Island. Additional amenities include two swimming pools, six tennis courts, and a fully stocked professional shop.

A Course for Every Golfer

The par-71 course is designed to challenge players of all skill levels, offering a championship experience from the back tees while remaining accessible from family tees, with multiple options in between. An expansive practice facility features a full grass driving range, an oversized putting green, and a dedicated chipping and pitching area complete with bunkers.

Architectural Distinction

A defining characteristic of the course is its architectural distinction—no two holes are alike. Each reflects inspiration from courses Otto Kahn encountered in his travels, creating a unique and memorable playing experience. Set within a naturally wooded landscape, the course gracefully winds around the castle, with each hole thoughtfully secluded from the next.
